This was my fandom in middle school. Really— my fandom. When I discovered this game, I couldn’t get enough of it. I loved Disney and I loved Final Fantasy. It inspired me to do everything I wanted to do when I was in sixth grade. I wanted to be just like Sora. I wanted to compose music like the score from the game. I wanted to spend all day on a beach, standing in the shallows, because I played this game.
I know it sounds geeky, but this series really changed me. I owe a lot of happiness to this game, and I made a ton of friends through it.
But I’ve moved on since then. I found other video games to play, and other characters to obsess over. But I’ll never forget these characters. I still know all of my favorite lines from this game, and I can’t help but get a little giddy whenever I see the opening title screen and hear the piano theme playing.
